Choice of E-commerce

Electronic Books

My website will be following the Business-to-Consumer(B2C) E-commerce model as the products are aimed to be sold to none other than the consumers themselves.

Two similar websites

I am going to be researching two different websites that are famous or known to be selling E-books which are :

1)Ebooks:

This below, is the e-Books.com home-page.
  • The header contains:
  • Title
  • Top menu
  • Amount of members
  • Amount of e-Books sold
  • Search Bar
  • Learn More

The body contains:

  • Featured titles
  • Bestsellers per category segment
  • Popular subjects
  • Sign up for the newsletter

https://www.ebooks.com/en-gb/

The website's about page starts off by showing a picture with a quote/slogan and then talks about what the site offers in two bullet points. Below the bullet-points, the text mentions the companies origination and details more about the company itself.

2)Hive:

This is the page of the Hive.co.uk/eBooks website;

In the header:

  • Cookies pop-up
  • Discounts
  • Contact
  • Help
  • Reviews
  • Title
  • How to support it
  • Search bar

Meanwhile, the body contains some of the following:
  • Categories
  • Browse audio E-Books
  • A banner mentioning their collection and bestsellers and what they offer in this section.

The about section of the Hives' site has the E-commerces' sites' Agenda written on it.

Comparison/Similarities of features:

  • Both websites have a search bar nearby the title positioned at the top left corner of the website.
  • Both websites have a cart button which functions as an online shopping basket.
  • Both websites showcase their bestsellers the first as the consumer scrolls.
  • Both websites showcase their products at the home-page.

Differences:

  • eBooks.com does not have its social media account links visible clearly for the users while hive does.

In the end, the similarities appear to be the essential functions and features an E-commerce site should have such as the 'Shopping cart' button which allows the consumers to take their time and purchase goods with ease.
