Website Construction - Wix Apps

Image
WixAppMarket Wix applications are apps that could be downloaded from the wix app market and integrated into a website to implement new features easily. Below I am going to show the various applications I added to my website from the WixAppMarket. 1. Wix Chat (Live-chat feature) This feature is such a helpful one, especially for a E-commerce business as it allows easier live communication between the consumers and the business marketers or employees. Upon expansion, the users are able to send messages and communicate with a employee from the business. However, as I do not have any employees, the chat messages are redirected to me and I am able to respond to them accordingly. Furthermore, in case I am not available, an automatic message could be configured as shown. Here the automated message asks the consumer to provide their contact details in case no one is around to reply to them. 2. Social Media Icons The second wix app I used was the Social Media Icons application. This app allowed...

Website Construction - Privacy policy

Image
The privacy policy section of my website was done with the help of a third-party privacy policy generator. As shown below, the last date in which the policy was updated was the 18th of March, 2021. The policy starts of by thanking the consumer for shopping and then credits the third party website used. Then the interpretation and definitions for terms used are mentioned. Next, the consumers rights for order cancellation are specified along with the conditions for returns right below it. Reference: https://app.freeprivacypolicy.com/

Website Construction - About Page

Image
About The about pages are necessary in E-commerce businesses as they tend to let the consumers know more about the business. My about page specifies the date the business launched and mentions the aims and goals I have while also asking to subscribe to a newsletter, follow us on social media or asking them to contact us if they have any questions. About page available at: https://aldoseri2030.wixsite.com/sabooks/about There are two buttons shown below the text which are 'Contact Us' and 'Subscribe to our newsletter'. The first one, or the 'Contact Us' button redirects the user to the Contact part of the website were the user may input their details and leave a message via email by clicking submit.   The second button, 'Subscribe to our newsletter' shows a pop-up upon clicking which asks for the customers' email address in case they want to be updated with our deals, information and progress.

Website Construction - Footer

Image
Footer The footer section of my website shows the website logo on the far left, and then contains 3 columns which each contains a hyperlink leading to its respective page as shown as its text. Quick Menu The quick menu shows 4 buttons and one drop down below them, to further explain each I will be doing so in bullet points to improve readability: Home: This text redirects the user to the home-page. Shop: This text redirects the user to the shop-page. About: This text redirects the user to the about-page. Contact: This text redirects the user to the contact-page. Currency Drop-down menu: This allows the selection of currencies, although to add more than one currency a paid version is required which is why there is no option other than British pounds at the moment. Policy and FAQ Returns and refunds: This text redirects the user to the Return and refunds-page. Store policy: This text redirects the user to the Store Policy-page. Payment methods: This text redirects the user ...

Website Construction - Header

Image
HEADER As seen in the screenshot below, the header of the site consists of: A website logo A product search bar A quick menu including the four buttons : Home, Shop, About and Contact. A log-in button A Cart button

Excel - Customer Database

Image
Customer DB With the help of Microsoft Excel, I created a customer datasheet which as shown below has numerous columns showing the following information: customer ID first name last name country city postcode address line phone number email address Order ID The sheet is formatted by adding borders to the tables, a peach coloured highlight to the titles as well as a filter option to each column which could help narrow down the fields to the specific person or customer I am searching for.

Promotion - Social Media Accounts

Image
Promotion As explained in a previous post, one of the pillars of marketing is Promotion, which is one of the 4Ps. Promotion could be classified into many different types but to name a few, it may involve types such as Advertising, Public relations, Personal Selling and even social media(LEARNMARKETING, 2020). So to promote my E-commerce business and products, I created two social media accounts which may be seen by scrolling to the footer of my website. As shown here, here is one of my social media accounts which uses the Instagram platform. By converting the account into a business one I am able to view insights and gain higher traffic to my website by simply posting sales or updates and advertising content, or in other words, Promoting products.         (Instagram.com/sabooks_official) References: LEARNMARKETING, (2020). Website Construction - SEO

Image
Search Engine Optimisation Search Engine Optimisation is a process which affects the visibility of websites and web-pages in a search engines' unpaid search results(Demers, 2021). To further elaborate, SEO as mentioned in my previous posts is a necessity in order to attract higher traffic into ones website or webpage as having a proper optimisation could allow your webpages or website to show up higher in a search engine results, that of course being on the unpaid area below the advertisements. SEO are typically done by diving into the websites HTML code and editing the meta-tags, however going through the Wix dashboard and onto the 'Get Found on Google' section saves the trouble of that. Below as shown in the Keywords section, are the 5 main meta-tags which may allow the website to appear easier in a search engines' results section. The main website aside, webpages also have editable sections for the search engine optimisation in which here I specified the websites tit...

Website Construction - Products and Collections

Image
Products The products were imported easily into the Wix site with the help of a CSV excel file. The products I added total to 10 each having a unique title and a well-designed image. Each product was added to a collection which is mentioned at the final section of the current blog post. This Dashboard area is where products could be edited in terms of SEO, availability, description editing, title renamed, addition of more pictures and much more customisation options. Collections Next at the collections, I created a different collection for each Author and a collection for both Fictional and Non-Fictional books. This was done to help apply a filter option on the SHOP page.

Website Security

Image
Encryption and online security payment Despite the time and effort saved by making online payments, risks are associated with such payments whether it is a transaction between individuals or businesses. Elefant(2011) correctly argues that the feature of online payment which enables the exchange of billions of dollars worth of transactions yearly is a prime target for hackers. The work of GOCARDLESS(n.d) reveals that 58% of customers fail to finalise online payments due to security concerns, hence why having encrypted secure payments plays an important role in gaining the customers trust and confidence. Online Security features to be included on the E-commerce site. The padlock symbol displayed in a web browser, or SSL certificate is a digital certificate that encrypts information sent from a website to the server using Secure Socket Layer security technology (GOCARDLESS, n.d). This form of encryption could help strengthen the trust of the customers to the website.  SSL certificat...

Website Construction - Shop and Products Page

Image
Shop page The shop page shows the products available for sale in two columns. This page has no pagination but instead has 'infinite-scrolling' where as the consumer keeps scrolling they will eventually be reaching the end of all the available products. Here as shown, I implemented a sorting feature by wix that can sort the products from newest to oldest, lowest in price to highest, highest in price to lowest or even sort it in alphabetical ascending or descending order. Finally, at the left of the page is the filter feature which can filter the products based on certain criteria. Products, as shown could be filtered by their type whether it is fictional or non-fictional or it could even be filtered by price. There is also an option to filter by author, which when clicked shows the books of said author or authors. Products page As a product is selected, the end-user is shown a product page. On the top of this page, the user is able to navigate to the previous or next product by ...
