Electronic Books My website will be following the Business-to-Consumer(B2C) E-commerce model as the products are aimed to be sold to none other than the consumers themselves. Two similar websites I am going to be researching two different websites that are famous or known to be selling E-books which are :   1)Ebooks:  This below, is the e-Books.com home-page. The header contains: Title Top menu Amount of members Amount of e-Books sold Search Bar Learn More The body contains: Featured titles Bestsellers per category segment Popular subjects Sign up for the newsletter                 https://www.ebooks.com/en-gb/ The website's about page starts off by showing a picture with a quote/slogan and then talks about what the site offers in two bullet points. Below the bullet-points, the text mentions the companies origination and details more about the company itself. 2)Hive:  This is the page of the Hive.co.uk/eBooks website; In the header:...

Types: 1) B2B - Medux Medux, as shown on its website, is an E-commerce website that helps other businesses improve their network performance while maintaining great customer Experience. Since this is a transaction between a business to another one, this E-commerce website is classified as a Business2Business(B2B) site.                                                                                                           Medux.com     2) B2C - Tesco Tesco is a British grocery retailer which has both on-site shopping and an E-commerce website to help its'...

Pros and Cons of E-commerce

It was reported with the help of statistics that electronic retail sales are predicted to rise up to 4.8 trillion dollars by 2021 (Ferreira, 2019). However, this increase in usage does not necessarily rule out the fact that it does not have any disadvantages;  Here are some of the Advantages and Disadvantages of electronic commerce in accordance with Ferreira(2019):      Advantages:                       - Low startup financial cost.          - Income could be gained throughout the day(24/7) as the website may always remain open.          - International sales.          - Ability to showcase the best-selling products.          - Ability to customise a page per audiences' searches.     Disadvantages:          - Sales may be affected during a Site Crash.  ...

For instance, as a user visits a website a few days after previously logging in, the website may recognise them(BEHERA, 2020). UI As Churchville(n.d) points out, user Interface is the way humans or users interact and communicate with a website. According to Churchville(n.d), there are numerous types of user interfaces such as:  GUI CLI VUI Page source As Brain(n.d) explains, a websites' page source is the original text and HTML tags the author added to the site which then the browser interprets to output the normally visible web pages across the internet. A page source could mostly be viewed by simply clicking the right mouse button on an unoccupied area on the site and then choosing the 'View source' option. Website Analysis

Image
In this Blog post, I will be briefly breaking down and analysing two  E-commerce websites which follow the C2C and B2C models, respectively. 1) Udemy This is the home-page of the Udemy  site. By clicking right click on a blank area on the site and then heading over to the 'View page source' button, the website's source will be visible. On the beginning of the <head> tag, the title tag is noticeable which is responsible for the title of a site as shown below. The rest of the code seems slightly chaotic so an HTML reformatter will be used to increase the clarity and readability of the page source. Below is the code after copying it into a formatter, which clearly made it more readable. Here the meta-tags are visible which contains the description of the site as seen below '</script>'; that is "Udemy is an online learning and...". So to look further into the source of the page, the inspect element feature from Chrome is going to be used. Upon ins...

Search Engine Optimisation

Image
What is SEO? According to Hardwick(2020), "SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the practice of optimizing a website or webpage to increase the quantity and quality of its traffic from a search engine’s organic results." In other words, SEO is a process used in web development to yield more organic search results increasing the web traffic to suit the developers, businesses or organisations needs. How is SEO used? The first important thing for Search Engine Optimisation is the meta tag, these hidden tags provide data about the search engine the user uses, as well as info on the page itself and the website visitors (Litsa, 2018). To further explain this, SEO involves researching the most and common searched keywords on search engines and narrowing it down to what the target audience searches for the most and then adding those keywords to meta-data in a site to increase the organic search results and traffic.  Litsa(2018) makes clear that there are six meta tags that may help im...

Image
Inventor of WWW Born in 1955, the British computer scientist Sir Tim Berners-Lee was the one who invented the World Wide Web (Dennis, 2004). Although he made the earliest web client and web server in 1990, Sir Tim invented the WWW back in 1989 during his time at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, CERN(W3, n.d).  (CERN, n.d.) History of E-commerce Electronic commerce is a term used to refer to the buying and selling of products and services online on the internet(McFerrin, 2020). According to McFerrin(2020), computer networks were used to conduct businesses by companies for as far as during the 1960s. However, modern E-commerce was introduced and pioneered by the English inventor Michael Aldrich in 1979 which involved connecting television and telephone lines. This idea struck Aldrich as he was walking with his wife complaining about the inconvenience of making usual trips to the market and asking if it could just be easier if it was possible to order what they needed t...

Programming languages in website dev

Image
HTML HyperText Markup Language or HTML is the common markup language used in Web pages. HTML uses tags which involve special characters  for its syntax, which are '<' & '>'. An element is added by starting with a start tag, typing the content and then ending it with an end tag which consists of a backslash within the brackets(W3SCHOOLS, N.D).                                                          (W3, 2013) CSS Cascading Style Sheets(CSS) describes the way the HTML elements are displayed onto the screen. For instance, page layouts, colours and fonts are all managed with CSS(Morris, n.d). This allows developers to separate code content and visual content, making it more flexible(Techopedia, 2018).  Techopedia(2018) also points out that Cascading Style Sheets defines elemen...
